Poker School Online Review by Paul, January 13, 2009
I made the money in a few tournaments at my local casino in the late 90′s. I found that tournament play could be fun and profitable. I decided to learn how to play better. I read a few books but I needed experience. I found Poker School Online while looking for information at Pokerpages.com. It was new when I signed up October 30, 2000. What it offered was a place to play practice tournaments, some instruction by professional players, and (most important) a poker forum by members that liked to discuss how to play poker. We had input from all levels of players and they were not inhibited about sharing their opinions. Over the years, (I’m still a member), they have added value to the site by offering contest (playing poker tournaments) to win buy-ins to B&M tournaments. In 2001 they paid for three members to enter the WSOP events. I took second place in the PSO play-off and won entry into the $3000.00 NLHE event on May 18, 2001. Another player won entry into a $1500.00 event and the winner of the play-off won entry into the WSOP-ME 10K buy-in. All the prizes were covered for the cost of a membership ($19.95/month); no other fees or payments. This was an extremely profitable educational tool in my early years. I have since gone on to make many final tables and ITM finishes in poker tournaments B&M and Online. The advice of professionals has increased since 2000 and PSO has sent numerous players to play in tournaments every year. One player made it to 8th in the WSOP-ME the year Greg Raymer won his bracelet. If you’ve seen it played on ESPN, you’ll remember the player that kept saying Yah,Yah and runing around everytime he won a hand. He had only been play poker for less than 2 years and made $500K on his first trip to play the WSOP after winning enough money on BugsyClub (partnersite to PSO) to buy-in to the WSOP-ME. They offer many opportunities to win buy-ins to B&M tournaments. I won a Heads up match this summer versus TJ Cloutier and I now have a $10,000.00 bankroll to play B&M events. I played in some pre-lim of the Borgata events in Setember, 2008 and placed in the money (Buy-in paid for by PSO).

My problem with PSO is not quality, bonuses or price but, their honesty. They hooked up and promoted Fleet Street Games allowing them to use their platform, their member list and provided much promotion and support. If FSG was not a wholely owned subsidiary they certainly provided PSO with an ownership position. FSG went down in flames and, after several emails promising to pay up, never sent my winnings. PSO is completely stonewalling on the entire scam even though they played a big part.
